Moving Forward
Life is lived in seasons ~ both in the natural and in the spiritual. Just as natural seasons come and go, spiritual seasons do as well. But there are times when we have the control as to how long we remain in a particular season, simply by making a decision to MOVE FORWARD.I read a quote recently that confirmed this. It went something like this (as I cannot remember where I read it to get exact wording) :
“We all come to a point in our lives where the question isn’t how hard this season has been, or how badly we’ve been hurt during this season. The question now becomes: ‘Where do we go from here? And what does going forward look like?’”
There are times when we’ve just got to get over “it” and MOVE ON!Not every season are we afforded the opportunity to change our season simply by changing our perspective or our thoughts and move forward. But there are some seasons that we are given that opportunity and we should take it.We sometimes just need to get over “it.” The “it” of a relationship gone bad, of a heart that’s been broken into a million pieces, of a wrong done to you in your career, of words spoken to you in a hurtful conversation, or a disappointment from a close friend or family member. The “it” list can go on and on.Please don’t misunderstand me. There are many seasons of our lives that legitimate hurts and wounds come. That brokenness finds its way to your heart. That your soul has been crushed. That despair overtakes you and hope alludes you and there’s nothing you can do to make that season pass by any quicker. The healing of your heart and soul takes time and may require additional help and insight from a professional therapist or counselor.I’m not talking about those seasons. I’m talking about the difficult seasons that we find ourselves in that continue on and on, simply because we refuse to get over whatever that “it” may be and commit to moving forward. There are some conversations that have been hurtful to you, that you need to forgive and MOVE FORWARD.There are some relationships that have broken you, that you need to dust yourself off, pick yourself up, grab tight to the hands of God and MOVE FORWARD.There are some dreams that haven’t come to pass, that you need to revisit again, believe in again, have confidence in yourself again, put your faith back in God again and MOVE FORWARD.There is some hope that you have lost, some life you’ve failed to live, some prayers you need to keep praying, some trust you need to give, some grudges you need to let go of, some “it’s” you need to get over and MOVE FORWARD.And once you’ve done that, then ask yourself these two questions:
“Where do I go from here?” and “What does going forward look like for me?”
Then DO IT and MOVE FORWARD.Just start MOVING. FORWARD. Not backwards. Not reliving past conversations or past hurts. Not holding on to that grudge. Not wallowing in that disappointment.Get up...and MOVE...FORWARD. Setting your heart and mind to look, gaze, dream and walk…FORWARD. Into a new season, into new mercies and grace, into fresh forgiveness and love, into a life lived to its fullest ~ into a brand new season!
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies are never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3: 22-23)“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” (II Corinthians 5:17)
Seasons come and seasons go. Some seasons we have no control over as life is sometimes very hard and we have to walk through them. But some seasons we do have control over ~ by making a decision to MOVE FORWARD!WHAT IS IT THAT YOU NEED TO MOVE FORWARD FROM?Now, do exactly that…start moving FORWARD…TODAY!
