The 30,000 Foot View
My husband and I just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary a few weeks ago. That’s a big deal, right?! Well, we think so! We were blessed with a few days on the beach (we’re taking our BIG celebration trip in a couple of months!). There’s really nothing on earth that soothes and restores my soul quite like time on the beach. Though it was a little chilly, we bundled up and sat in our chairs on the white sand and just watched the waves of the ocean come in to shore. So relaxing and refreshing!
As we flew back home and I looked out over the beautiful beaches, I was reminded of a phrase my husband uses often: “From the 30,000 ft. view”. In that statement, he means “looking from a higher perspective” we can see things differently. We actually were only flying about 9,000 ft. high, but I understood exactly what that statement meant.
I was 9,000 ft. above ground and I could see so much more than I could see if I were standing on the ground. I could see EVERYTHING! I saw houses, land, and roads and where all the roads led, etc. I then realized the view point or perspective our God must have. Not only does He see Point A, He sees from Point A to Point Z, and everything in between. We only see Point A in our lives and pray for the faith and strength to make it to Point B, but God’s view point from heaven is seeing EVERY POINT in our lives.
The beginning and the end, and everything in between!
When we realize that truth, I wonder why we don’t trust Him more? He sees what we cannot see and simply asks us to TRUST His view!
Psalm 34: 13-15 tells us, “From heaven the Lord looks down and sees all mankind; from His dwelling place He watches ALL (that’s us!) who live on earth. He who forms the hearts of ALL, who considers ALL that they do.”
My goodness gracious that brings me great comfort! I hope it does for you too! Our Heavenly Father sees what we cannot see. He desires to lead and guide us through our journey of life if we will just put our trust in His wisdom and perspective, not ours.
From the “30,000 ft. view” of our lives, I think God may be saying, “My child, my ways are good and I’m looking out for your good. I can see what you cannot. Just please trust Me.”
So I will. I will trust His perspective above my perspective. I will surrender to His “30,000ft view” over my view any day!
I will trust God. Period. I pray you will too!
